Opening of the World Music Contest

The World Music Contest (WMC) is to musicians what the Olympic Games are to athletes. Once every four years, 20,000 musicians come to the Netherlands to take part in three weeks of competitions at the very highest level.

Live Impact had the honour of dreaming up and producing the official opening ceremony. We translated the theme "Breathing the World" into a musical and spectacular journey around the globe that lasted one hour.

A few facts: 289 crew members of whom 150 were performers, 1,482 hot meals, an 83-metre-high crane and 12,000 enthusiastic visitors

The press described the opening as "an Olympic spectacle".
