An event mechanism is the part of an event concept that makes the message felt instead of told. It's usually a programme element or an interaction moment that compels colleagues towards a certain behaviour.
Say the message is 'we don't really know each other yet'. Then a gimmick is a sticker with an emoji. A mechanism is a table arrangement where nobody sits next to someone they know.
The difference: a mechanism compels behaviour, a gimmick hopes for a smile. The test: if you remove it, does the message become less clear?
