How do you come up with a mechanism for an event?

Don't start with execution, start with the message. Write in one sentence what you want colleagues to do differently on Monday. Then work out which behaviour that requires. Next, come up with a programme element in which that behaviour is actually triggered, not performed.

Step four: check whether it only works in the context of this event. If it would also work on any other day, it's too loose.

Most mechanisms are surprisingly simple. Think of a task, a table allocation, a question on a card or a wall on which something has to be written.
