A venue visit is essential. Pay attention to accessibility (car + public transport), parking, atmosphere and appearance. Check acoustics, natural light and technical facilities (power, wifi, AV). Also check catering options, sanitary facilities, loading and unloading space and build-up/breakdown times. Ask about the service-mindedness of the venue team.
