What is the difference between cancellation and liability insurance?

The difference lies in what they cover:

  • Cancellation insurance — covers your own financial loss if the event doesn't go ahead (lost costs, suppliers paid in advance)
  • Liability insurance (AVE) — covers loss suffered by third parties during your event (visitor injury, damage to the venue)

The two policies complement each other: the AVE is often mandatory, while cancellation insurance protects your investment. Read all about cancellation insurance too.
