A good invitation for a formal event contains eight elements. Name and organisation of the sender. Reason or theme of the event. Date and time, with doors open and programme start. Location with address and directions. Dress code if applicable. RSVP instructions with deadline. And practical information about parking or public transport. Send the invitation six to eight weeks in advance. For informal business gatherings, three weeks is enough. A digital invitation is fine, but for formal occasions a paper version still carries more weight.
