Is a staff party at your own location cheaper than external?

It depends on the location. Your own location where a lot of infrastructure is already in place — water connections, toilets, kitchen, parking spaces, climate control — can make a big difference to the budget. In that case, count on around 60% to 80% of the cost of a comparable turnkey external event.

But an empty site or a raw indoor space (a warehouse, a field, a car park without facilities) generally works out more expensive than a standard event venue. Everything normally included in the rental price — sanitary facilities, kitchen, power, flooring, climate, sound insulation, security — you then have to source yourself. The total budget can then come out 20% to 40%+ higher.

Ask yourself what's already in place and which facilities are missing. Only then can you estimate whether your own location is cheaper or actually more expensive.
