How do you deal with resistance at a merger event?

Acknowledge the emotions. Don't start the event with how wonderful the future will be, but with the present. Name that change is exciting and that uncertainty is normal. Create room for dialogue, small group conversations, shared assignments, informal moments. Let people from both organisations work together. Be careful with symbolism: unveiling a new logo may be too soon. A merger event is the start of a process, not the conclusion.
