Light is the element with the most impact per euro. Light determines the atmosphere of a space more than any other element. Warm amber light makes a space intimate. Cool blue-white light makes it businesslike. Coloured washes on walls transform a neutral venue completely. The entrance is also highly valuable in terms of décor: the first impression is crucial. Third: table styling, because guests sit close to it all evening. Large background structures that go barely noticed deliver relatively little return.
