Effective team building stands or falls on three things. It starts with a sharp question up front: what needs to be different after this day? Then comes an activity format that connects to that question. Task-focused formats like simulations reveal behavioural patterns that otherwise stay invisible.
Finally there's the reflection afterwards. A coach names what they saw and helps the team translate patterns into concrete agreements. That last step is the most often skipped, and the most valuable.
