Buma/Stemra is the organisation that collects music rights in the Netherlands on behalf of composers and lyricists. If you play music at an event, you are legally required to report it and pay a fee. That applies to all forms: DJ, live band, streaming or radio.
How it works: register your event at bumastemra.nl. Provide the number of visitors, the entry price (if applicable) and the duration of the event. You receive an invoice based on this information. The costs vary: for an internal corporate event without entry charge, they are relatively low (often a few dozen euros).
Note: even if the venue already has a Buma/Stemra licence, you are not automatically covered for every situation as an organiser. Ask the venue for written confirmation that your event falls within their licence.
