Zaandam Centraal is 12 minutes by train from Amsterdam Centraal. By car via the A10 it's 20–25 minutes. Zaanstad has excellent parking facilities: a major advantage compared to Amsterdam. For staff coming from northern Noord-Holland, Zaanstad is in fact fairer than central Amsterdam.
