An intimate space close to the office works well for a farewell party: a restaurant, grand café or function venue. Make sure the acoustics are good, because speeches are a fixed part of the programme.
There needs to be enough space to stand and chat informally, and catering needs to be sorted. Think too about a nice spot for a gift presentation or a photo wall.
